Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres
Rev Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres is the Co-Pastor of No Longer Bound Ministries. Rev. Dr. Torres was ordained a Reverend and installed as Co-Pastor of No Longer Bound Ministries on January 31, 2021, later receiving an honorary Doctorate in Humanities on December 4, 2021, for her endeavors in serving several borough communities of New York City in the areas of feeding the communities, praying, encouraging, empowering, and counseling as the Lord saw fit.
Prior to this Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres was Associate Minister of the United Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Marvin B. Abram. She was a faithful member for four years. While serving at United Missionary Baptist Church she held the position of the Director of Women’s Ministry and embraced a passion to empower, motivate and encourage them to be who God pre-destined them to be.
Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres served under Apostle Shikina Fuller of Deborah’s Army Ministries for 4 years as Assistant Pastor. Rev. Dr. Torres served under Rev. Eddie Karim, Moderator of the New York Missionary Baptist Association, as Associate Minister, for 10 years.
Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres learned her pre-ordained and pre-destined aspect of ministry from her father in ministry Bishop Russell W. Seymour who founded New Creation Ministry currently named New Creation Ministry, Church Without Walls.
Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres and her husband Rev. Dr. Pedro J. Torres Jr. launched the No Longer Bound Ministries on September 29th, 2013, after faithfully serving at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility for 15+ years.
Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres carries the spirit of her leader and has a willingness to serve God and His people. In Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres, you will find a patient and listening ear that will respond to your situation in a soft yet serious tone. Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres is a prayer warrior who will intercede to God on your behalf and could often be heard saying, “DEVIL, NOT ON MY WATCH!”. She offers to those that are receptive and willing to hear, the spiritual guidance needed to make it through adversity and trials.
Her focus has always been to encourage, motivate, empower, and push individuals toward their God-given purpose. God has anointed and blessed Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres to endure and overcome many hardships, yet she has not allowed her circumstances to be a hindrance. The pain of her past has now become her praise and her worship which comes forth out of her love and gratitude for the Lord and His Sovereignty over her life. Prayer, praise, and worship are her weapons of warfare, and she utilizes these weapons in her arsenal to withstand the wiles and devices of the enemy that seek to kill, steal, and destroy.
One of Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres’ platforms is to share with God’s people the truths about what God says about them and to dismantle every lie that the enemy has spoken over their lives. She pursues and encourages true deliverance, healing, and wholeness in the Kingdom of God and is available to ensure that God’s children reach this place of freedom through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rev. Dr. Torres has completed several courses at the Hope for All Bible College, is also a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) and has a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from New York City College of Technology. Rev. Dr. Torres is currently a contracted Case Manager for Veteran Affairs, housing homeless veterans and providing them with Case Management services.
Rev. Dr. Kenya Hicks-Torres has been married to Rev. Dr. Pedro J. Torres, Jr. for22 years and have 6 children and 5 grandchildren.
